Week One
Construction has begun! We are ready and waiting to see our new classrooms being built. We do not like that we can no longer use our front door. We have a long way to walk to get to the hall, big adventure and the field. We hope that the building goes up quickly so we don't have to walk too far for long.
WEEK Two
This week we have been staring out our classroom window a lot! We have seen a digger moving dirt and helping spread out shingle, for the foundations to be laid, for our new classroom. We listened as the big tip truck dumped shingle on the ground. It sounded like marbles quickly falling on the dirt. We were all given a fright when the builders then decided to use a very loud machine to compact the shingle into the ground and flatten it. These machines made vibrations that we could feel when we sat on the mat.
Week Three
This morning while we were still snoring in our beds, the builders were hard at work pouring concrete. When we went out to investigate the concrete looked ready for us to play on... Miss Lambie told us "NO WAY!!!" It may look dry but it is still very wet. We will have to wait a while longer for our new indoor play area.
Yesterday we were fascinated by the Hilton Haulage truck and its massive hydraulic crane. We watched with amazement as the crane carefully hauled heavy pellets of timber framing onto our new classrooms foundations.

Week FOur
This week the gigantic frames have been placed on the concrete. A nail gun was used to secure the wooden frames onto the concrete. This nail gun gave off a loud BANG! Then, another two big trucks arrived on our courts. This time they were carrying trusses. We watched carefully as the big hydraulic crane truck lifted the trusses over the roof, of our classroom. Everyone had to be removed from the class, and stay outside until it was finished. This was incase one of the trusses was dropped onto the roof. One came very near to touching the roof....
Weeks five and Six
Finally the trusses have been put into place. The builders had to cut the trusses down to size because they arrived at school a little too big. It has been fun watching the builders measuring and cutting down the trusses. Any off cuts that the builders have we are allowed to keep for our woodwork equipment. Our imaginations are running wild with creative ideas of what we can build. Maybe we could build our own little house, or statues of animals. We could even build our own new classrooms.
The classrooms are looking amazing, we can't wait to see what happens next. Our predictions are that boards are put around the outside and the pink bats are put in. Others think that it might be the roof. We will have to wait and see....

Week Seven and Eight
Outside our classroom, during week seven, not a sound could be heard because the builders were waiting for our local council to sign their work off. The building inspectors came and said that they were doing a great job and could continue. So they would be back to work during week eight.
This week we have watched and listened as the roof iron was cut to shape and carefully placed. There is also a lot of paper that has been wrapped around the outside. We think maybe this is to wrap it like a present.....
Our classroom is now very dark, and we no longer are complaining about having sun in our eyes or not being able to see the projector.

term four
Shrrrreeeeek! This term we have had a piercing sound out our window. What is it? It is the sound of bricks being cut to size as the brick layer puts them on the outside walls. Slowly the building out our window is looking more like a class. We took a tour around the outside and saw a lot of changes had happened over the holidays. We could even see where the doors are to go in and out, the windows, and where we will store our bags. On our tour we also noticed there was two strange looking chimneys on the top of the roof. These were no ordinary chimneys but the outside units for the heat pumps.
We also noticed some pink fluffy stuff being put into the walls and roof. Many of us knew that this was insulation called Pink Batts. We were surprised at this because we thought they only went into the roof.
